Order out of chaos!

Yesterday, Saturday, September 2 (or maybe I should say “September 1” and thereby get the vaunted Steno-Queen and her mate all bent out of shape; or perhaps “Thursday, July 15,” and cue all my siblings particularly the one in Boston hot to bad-mouth everything I do or say — so much he sounds like a broken-record)......
.....the ragged fragments of Ernesto dumped on our region. By the time a hurricane gets up here, it’s torn itself apart: “extra-tropical” the TV weather-guy said — not even a “tropical depression.” (My mother survived the Depression.)
As such we mostly got rain — an all-day rain. The winds hardly got above 30 mph.
An all-day rain puts the kabosh on all the things we do outside: like take the dogs to the park; walk the dogs before supper; mow lawn.
It also makes the grass grow; enough to possibly cripple the Husky again.
But there was plenty to do indoors, like organize the receipts at long last, which were royally messed up (stroke-effect).
Until yesterday I organized paid receipts into three piles: machinery, utilities, and Schedule-A stuff. The “Schedule-A stuff” is what goes in my Excel spreadsheet for 1040’s Schedule-A.
I subdivided the “Schedule-A stuff” into sub-piles for each month with paper-clips.
Previously my “machinery” and “utilities” piles were small enough to be a year; but my “utilities” pile has gotten large enough to subdivide it by months.
I used to toss the previous utility-bill when the new one displayed the previous one paid, but now that we’re doing online bill-pay, I keep all the bills. (Once paid — online — the bills go in my utility pile.)
So far the bank, Canandaigua National, has not mucked up; and I don’t look forward to when and if they ever do. It would be them that does the research — I can’t point out where the money went if they credited the wrong people.
So what happened, apparently, is that Schedule-A stuff got clipped into the utility pile. —So that all of Schedule-A stuff for July was missing; plus there were receipts laying around unclipped because I knew things were mucked up.
So yesterday, because of the all-day-rain, I finally straightened it all out. It’s been mucked up for over a month. It sat because I had dogs to walk, and/or lawn to mow.
We then made three folders for a drawer in the ‘pyooter-center: one each for a year’s worth of “Schedule-A stuff,” “machinery” and “utilities.” This gets the piles off the cabinet-top and out-of-sight.
Order out of chaos!
