Go figure
My wife drives a Windoze PC. I drive an Apple Macintosh (Gasp!), much to the noisy dismay of all my siblings, who loudly insist Jesus uses a PC, and anything Apple is of-the-Devil.
My siblings are all tub-thumping Christian zealots.
I’ve never been able to reconcile this with their use of iPhones and iPods, while my cellphone is a Motorola DroidX (Gasp!), not Apple.
My sister’s cellphone is a DroidX, yet hers is blessed, while mine is of-the-Devil, rebellious, and above-all stupid.
An unfathomable occurred on my wife’s computer. Her Internet-Explorer (IE) wasn’t displaying any of my pictures.
She thereupon tried opening the blog with her Firefox browser, and there were the pictures.
This blog-site gave up on Internet-Explorer a few years ago, and suggested I switch to Firefox.
Seemed okay to me. I’d heard good things about Firefox from a PC user.
These blogs are HTML, which explains bolding and underlining.
This blog-site also used to store photographs, but I gave up on that when it seemed to have maxxed out.
I switched to PhotoBucket.
The blog pictures are just a simple HTML-tag which goes to a PhotoBucket web-address.
Before this blog-site gave up on Internet-Explorer, I used to fiddle it with IE — as my default browser.
Now I always use Firefox, much to the noisy dismay of my siblings who loudly tell me Jesus uses Internet-Explorer.
I still have an IE, but rarely use it. Some of my train sites wouldn’t work with Firefox; they’d only work with IE.
But now they work with Firefox.
I’m a railfan, and have been since age-two (I’m 67).
My siblings call it “fox-fire,” intentionally mispronouncing the name as a put-down.
My younger brother in northern Delaware apparently uses Google Chrome, and loudly insists I try it — that I am stupid otherwise.
Well, that’s not Internet-Explorer, and I’m happy with Firefox.
Furthermore, I’m leery of anything Google.
Google seems to want to replace my AppleMail, which I’m quite happy with.
I have a GMail account, but it’s secondary. I ain’t lettin’ ‘em toss my AppleMail.
This laptop has Apple’s “Safari” browser, and it apparently uses it as the default browser.
Click an AppleMail link and it opens Safari.
(This is like my wife’s PC. Since it’s Microsoft Windows®, it uses Microsoft’s Internet-Explorer.)
Well okay, but I always use Firefox. It’s permanently open.
I suppose I could link my AppleMail to use Firefox instead of Safari, but why bother?
Safari seems to have caught up with Firefox, but all my bookmarks are in Firefox.
So why isn’t Internet-Explorer displaying my pictures for my wife?
Do I research this? (Pull my hair out?)
Years ago I had to do a special photo-tag so IE wouldn’t muck up my pictures. Most computer-users (like Granny) use Internet-Explorer.
“BlogSpot gave up on Internet-Explorer a few years ago, supposedly because it was inferior to Firefox,” I said.
“So I ain’t fixin’ it!”
The next night she opened my next-day’s blog-link with her Internet-Explorer.
It displayed the pictures.
Go figure.
• “Windoze” is Microsoft Windows. Macintosh users claim Windows is inferior, but I don’t know as it is.
• “HTML” is Hyper-Text Markup Language. Invisible HTML-tags denote how things should display.
