endorsements

The dreaded Messenger is endorsing candidates of every stripe, just like it did when I was an employee.
Democrats Elliot Spitzer for New York state governor, and Eric Massa for the 29th Congressional district instead of incumbent REPUBLICAN Randy Kuhl.
Yet Republicans J. Christopher Callaghan for state comptroller over Democratic incumbent Alan Hevesi, and Jeanine Pirro for Attorney-General instead of Democrat Andrew Cuomo. Both Hevesi and Pirro are being investigated for various sins.
The paper is of course endorsing Hillary, and various Democratic candidates for the state legislature, as well as the Democrat challenging Congressman Tom Reynolds, who is accused of covering up Mark Foley.
I can just imagine the editors (including Boss-Man, K-Man, and all-powerful Tim Belknap, who even though he’s only city-editor puts Boss-Man and K-Man on the trailer) gathering furtively under the skylight to decide who to endorse and who to pillory. Why “furtive-meetings” if they’re all “lockstep-liberials?”
They decide to send Dubya a message by tossing D.W.I. wife-beater Randy Kuhl on his ear.
Ah, what fun. Having the awful temerity and unmitigated gall and horrific audacity to endorse a Democrat is sure to inflame bellicose tub-thumping Conservative Stephen Poyzer, who apparently ran for Canandaigua Town-Council (or something) and was royally skonked.
Bellicose tub-thumping Conservatism might fly in Texas, but not in New York, which is Republican, but not Dubya REPUBLICAN.
Poyzer was guaranteed fulminating on the web-site, a Limberger wannabee. If someone’s speech was degraded by a stroke, it was an act.
Poyzer would be in highest dudgeon railing against all-and-sundry. A D.W.I.-arrest was “of little consequence” if the candidate was REPUBLICAN.
“Sorry I got in the way of your birdshot, Mr. vice-president.”
How can anyone properly decide amidst the torrent of strident bombast?
We often vote with the Messenger. Their so-called “furtive-meetings” are an attempt to weed through all the noise.
