Christmas is coming

(Screenshot on the dreaded MAC.)

Lexus has begun a Christmas advertising campaign that reminds me of an event that occurred long ago in Erlton.
Lexus is presenting cars with pretty red bows on top — see picture above.
Besides the fact they want 105-thousand smackaroos for one, which to me is utterly beyond belief.....
This bow presentation reminds me of an event that took place long ago in late 1955 in Erlton, when I woulda been 11.
Christmas was coming, and a family on Park Drive up toward Marlton Pike, had just got a brand-new 1956 Chevrolet Belair four-door sedan, and there it was, sitting out front in their driveway, with a pretty red bow on top.

  • RE: “Dreaded MAC.....” —All my siblings use Windows PCs, but I use an Apple MacIntosh, so am therefore reprehensible and stupid.
  • “Erlton” (‘EARL-tin’) is the small suburb of Philadelphia in south Jersey where I lived until I was 13. “Park Drive” was a nearby street, and “Marlton (‘MARL-tin’) Pike” was the main drag through town, although Erlton was mainly south of it. Erlton was founded in the ‘30s, named after its developer, whose name was Earl. Erlton was north of Haddonfield, an old Revolutionary town.
